Christmas Day - we got in a cab at 8:00 AM and drove for 50 minutes to Odawara Train Station. Here is the view of Mt Fuji from the back window of our cab. Our cab driver wrote the traditional dark blue suit and tie with white shirt with white gloves.
Dec 25th is not a holiday for school kids or others
You can do the conversion from JPY to USD and from litres to US gallons
Gosh, we could have eaten here
Just a nice house by the main road
Truck / car run-away ramp
Finally made it to the train station. Don't get on the wrong train. Ours is the 10:08 AM, train #507. It says cars 1 - 5 are non-reserved. We have reserved seats.
3 on the left, 2 on the right. Very quiet inside even though we are going 285 km/hr.
Click on video for bullet train. Blink and it is already gone. The first time it came by, it went by and I said what was that. A few min later another came by, I said what was that. A few minutes later another one came by, this time I was ready.

This is from the inside looking out going at full speed
Train leaving station, another coming in
After 2 hours and 5 minutes, we arrived in Kyoto and placed out luggage in lockers (500 JPY) and went on a bus tour that we had purchased ahead of time. It is good to know they have lockers. Many places in the US have eliminated them (just like Japan has eliminated all public trash cans). Same reason.
Shinto shrine we visited. This is over 600 years old.
It was an uphill climb, this is looking back at the little street and all the tourists
A lot of Chinese tourists visit like to dress up
Not sure why they all put two fingers up like a V when they all take their pictures
Examining the selfie
Another shrine to the Shinto gods. Shinto shrines are orange.
Over 800 years old
Sunset - you can see the city of Kyoto down below. We are very high up.
After the tour, we ate at the train station, they have a ton of very good restaurants. This was sushi on a conveyor belt
The blue plates were 356 JPY
The others were 136 JPY. We had 27 of these and 3 of the above ones.
We took a cab to the hotel and fell asleep immediately. No time to update the blog. Sorry. This is being done 24 hours later. Very hard to be a tourist and to write a blog and to get sleep.
